Comparative Analysis of Cultures in Western, Eastern and Southeastern Europe

The purpose of the course is to explore the populations of the Southeastern Mediterranean region in relation to contemporary issues such as migration and expulsion, globalization, and social and cultural conflicts and identities. This course focuses on theories, research, and case-studies analysing the complexities of the phenomena of migration and culture-formation. It offers a collection of comparative analysis between countries and groups. The course is dedicated to critical examination of a wide variety of cultures and aims at a comparative understanding of how culture can critically engage with in migration, integration, and race and ethnic relations.
